Noiana also told IQNA that the competition indicates the Islamic Ummah's devotion to the Book of God and the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
"I think Iran's Quran competition has been making outstanding progress and is organized better year after year," he stated.
The 31st edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran's International Holy Quran Competition kicked off in the capital, Tehran, on Monday.
120 reciters and memorizers of the Quran representing more than 70 countries are competing in the contest, which will run until June 2.
The Egyptian Quran master further commended the Iranian officials and people for the importance they attach to Quranic activities.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Noiana underlined the need for contemplating the teachings of the Holy Book, and said if reciting the Quran is accompanied by reflection on its teachings, the Divine reward for the Qari will be multiplied.
The Egyptian Quranic figure also said there is need for new Quran exegeses based on the needs of the day.
Born in 1954 in the city of Mutubas, Egypt, Ahmad Ahmad Noaina began learning the آoly Quran by heart at the age of 4 and managed to memorize the entire holy book by 8.
He studied styles of Quran recitation with Master Mostafa Esmaeel, and at the same time continued his academic education in Pediatrics.
