A number of Quranic, religious and cultural officials, including Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, attended the ceremony, which began by playing the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Qari Seyed Mohammad Javad Hosseini.
Next, Hojat-ol-Islam Adeli, the director general of Gilan province’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department presented a report on the competition and its sideline programs.
Honoring veteran Quran activists and teachers, recitation of verses from the Quran by Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mohammad Hossein Tabatabaei, a memorizer of the entire Quran, and Tawasheeh (religious singing) performances were among other programs of the closing ceremony.
At the end of the event, the winners of different categories of the competition received their awards.
The competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the aim of promoting the Quranic teachings and concepts in society.
The 39th edition was organized from October 15 to 22 with the participation of 450 men.
The women’s section will start on Sunday and run through Friday, October 28.
