Ugandan Radio Presenter Makes Documentary to Counter Shiaphobia

Kalula Suleyman had heard from some extremists that Shia Muslims do not respect the Holy Prophet (PBUH) or that they consider Ali (AS) as the prophet of God.

Speaking in a meeting with Iranian cultural attache in Kampala, Ali Bakhtiari, Suleyman said he found the accusations to be baseless and untrue after doing some research.

"I concluded that there should be some hand behind the scene attempting to spread hatred toward Shias among us and foment discord in the Muslim society,” he said.

"That is why I could not remain silent. I produced a documentary in which allegations against Shia Islam were refuted. I made copies of the documentary and played it in different places,” he added.

Elsewhere, Suleyman praised the Islamic Republic of Iran for its dignified stances as a Muslim country against the US and the Zionist regime.

"Not only myself, but many other people in Uganda are proud to see that there is one among the Islamic countries that defends the power of Islam and the Muslim Ummah.”

Suleyman, a 35-year-old Sunni Muslim, started his career as a radio presenter with Bilal Radio and later joined the Pear of Africa Radio.

He hosts a morning program named "Wake up Call” and a daily program featuring political analysis named "Inside Story”.
