TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkey will have 9 representatives in the upcoming international Quranic events in Iran.

Later this week, Iran will host five international Quran contests: the 34th edition of the International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as Quran competitions for women, school students, seminary students, and the visually-impaired.

They will kick off in the capital, Tehran, on Wednesday, April 19.

Nine Qaris from Turkey will be taking part in the competitions, the Iranian Cultural Center in Turkey said.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, which holds the events, has invited them.

They have been selected after a call by the cultural center and in cooperation with the neighboring country’s Presidency of Religious Affairs, known as Diyanet.

According to head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, a total of 276 contestants from 83 countries will take part in the upcoming competitions.

The official has also said that the panel of judges of the 34th contest, whose motto is "One Book, One Ummah”, will comprise of 40 Quran experts, including 24 Iranians and 16 from other countries.
