TEHRAN (IQNA) – Aftab Khan Muhammad Zaman from Pakistan is visually-impaired.

Visually-Impaired, Illiterate Pakistani Man Is Memorizer of Entire Quran

He did not go to school and is illiterate. Nonetheless, he is a Quran reciter and has learned the entire Quran by heart.

Muhammad Zaman, who is in Iran attending the international Quran competition for the visually-impaired, told IQNA that he learned the Quran at home and merely by listening to recorder recitations of Quran masters.

"Before learning the Quran, I spent my life in darkness for being blind but acquaintance with the Quran gave my eyes a light for which I no longer see life hard,” he said, referring to verse 174 of the Quran’s Surah Nisa "O Mankind! An undeniable proof has certainly come to you and We have sent you a shining light.”

Muhammad Zaman said as well as recitation, he memorized the entire Quran by listening to the verses of the Holy Book.

He said reciting and memorizing the Quran has been a great source of inspiration for him.

The Pakistani Quran activist went on to say that the Quran is a miracle and anyone who turns to the Quran, God will make it easy for him to achieve his goals.

The international Quran competition for the visually-impaired was held in the Iranian capital earlier this week.

Tehran is also hosting four other major international Quran competitions, including those for women and school students.

More than 270 Quran activists from 83 countries have taken part in the Quranic events.
