The following photos, except the first one depicting Shahat Mohamed Anwar, Abulainain Shuaisha, Ahmed Noaina and Mahmud Shahat Anwar, show arguably the most renowned Qari of Egypt Abdul-Basit Abdus-Samad.
Born in Egypt in 1927, Abdul Basit Abdul Samad started learning Quran recitation and memorization at 8 and learned the entire Holy Quran by heart at the age of 10.
He went on to become known for his recitation styles not only in Egypt but around the Islamic world and beyond.
It is said that many people, even non-Muslims, including world leaders such as Indira Gandhi, an Indian prime minister and political leader, were touched by his recitation.
He died of liver cancer at the age of 61 in 1988.
