Tunisia Quran Radio Stops Broadcasting

According to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Hisham Sanousi, a member of the commission in charge of monitoring the activities of TV and radio stations, said the Quran radio has been ordered to end broadcasting for a lack of permit.

He said the radio’s equipment and belongings have also been confiscated by the commission.

Sanousi said one of the requirements for granting permission for operation to media outlets is that their owners should not hold a political position.

This is while, he said, Saeed Jaziri, the owner of the Quran radio, is the leader of al-Rahma political party.

Sanousi also criticized the contents of the radio’s programs, saying that in some of its programs, there were even Takfir (describing other Muslims as infields) of opponents.
