TEHRAN (IQNA) – An official with Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi (aka Popular Mobilization Units) underlined that the Yemeni people have the right to react to the Saudi and UAE regime’s continued aggression.

Addressing the “Youths of Resistance” Conference in the holy city of Qom, Iran, on Monday, Hojat-ol-Islam Sayyed Hashem al-Haidari, Hashd al-Shaabi’s cultural deputy, said the Saudi-led coalition bombs the innocent people of Yemen on a daily basis and has imposed a blockade on the impoverished country.

Therefore, he said, the people of Yemen and the Houth Ansarullah movement have every right to defend themselves against the aggressors.

Haidari added that for all their weapons and military equipment, the Saudis and Emiratis are terrified by Yemeni missiles.

Young people from 60 countries have attended the conference, whose keynote speaker was Sheikh Isa Qassim, the spiritual leader of Bahrain’s Shia majority.

Commemorating the martyrs of Bahrain’s uprising and putting emphasis on the death of the so-called “deal of the century” are among the themes of event.

The Iranian Seminaries Management Center, Al-Musatfa International University and World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought have organized the event.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by a Saudi-led coalition for more than four years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to a recent UN report, the combined death toll from the Saudi-led aggression and disease is 233,000, or 0.8 percent of Yemen's 30 million-strong population.
