Forum Underlines Role of Family in Strengthening Islamic Values

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Participants in an international forum in Tehran stressed the role of family in boosting Islamic values.

 

The two-day forum, titled Stronger Family through Interactive Dialogue, has been organized by the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), Al-Zahra University’s branch, in cooperation with the International Center for the Excellence of Family Dialogue (ICEFD).

Scholars and experts from Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq discuss promotion of dialogue in families during the two-day event.

Syrian university professor Hala Suleiman Asa’ad was among the speakers on the first day of the forum Sunday.

She said education in family is of paramount importance because it would ensure a bright future for the society.   

It is the family that nurtures patriotism in children and teaches them that motherland is so important that one should even sacrifice their lives for it if necessary, she added.

Asa’ad also highlighted the role of women in family and development and growth of societies.

Palestinian social activist Salim Deeb in her speech elaborated on social and civil activities in Palestine aimed at supporting the institution of family.

She said strong bonds among family members in Palestine has been important in strengthening the society in the face of occupation.

She also highlighted the role of mosques in helping families raise their children with a devotion of Islamic values.

Sima Samar from Afghanistan was another speaker who talked about the improvement of women’s situation in the country since the fall of the Taliban.

She noted that the new constitution of Afghanistan recognizes women’s rights and consider men and women to be equal.
