All Iraqis Want Foreign Troops Out of Country: Former PM
It is not a demand of Iraqi Shias only but all Iraqis, including Sunnis and Kurds, want to see foreign occupiers out, al-Maalomah website reported.
The head of the State of Law Coalition also said that the presence of US troops in Iraq poses dangers to all Iraqi tribes and people.
There is no reason for continuation of presence of American forces in Iraq, he underlined.
In January 2020, Iraqi lawmakers on Sunday unanimously approved a bill, demanding the withdrawal of all foreign military forces led by the United States from the country.
The legislators used an extraordinary parliamentary session to vote on a resolution requiring the government to press Washington and its allies to withdraw their troops from Iraq.
It came following the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and his Iraqi trenchmate Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Units.
They were assassinated along with their companions in a US terror drone strike authorized by then US president Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
Both commanders were admired by Muslim nations for their role in eliminating the US-sponsored Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
The US assassination drew a wave of condemnation from officials and movements throughout the world, and triggered huge public protests across the region.
