Winners of Quran Competition in Uganda Honored
The competition was held by the Iranian Cultural Center in the African country in cooperation with Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Kampala, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported.
Quran recitation, memorization, and interpretation as well as giving sermons were the categories of the competition.
A total of 90 contenders competed in different categories of the Quranic event.
The awarding ceremony was attended by Iranian Ambassador to Uganda Seyed Hassan Mirhosseini, Iran’s Cultural Attaché in the country Mohammad Reza Qezelsofla, Uganda’s deputy Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, and member of parliament Aisha Kabanda.
They delivered speeches in which they underlined the need to benefit from the teachings of the Holy Quran and promote the Quranic culture.
Winners of the competition received their awards as well as a copy of the Holy Quran and a certificate of honor.
