TEHRAN (IQNA) – Tunisia’s Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi reiterated support for the Palestinian people and resistance.

Ghannouchi met a delegation from Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in Tunis on Monday, Arabi21 website reported.

After the meeting, he wrote in a post on Facebook that the two sides discussed the latest developments in Palestine, including the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Ghannouchi added that in the meeting, he underlined support for the cause of Palestine and rejection of any aggression against the Palestinian people.

The Hamas delegation, headed by Sami Abu Zuhri, also met with former Tunisian president Mohamed Moncef Marzouki during the visit to the North African country.

Israel launched a bloody bombing campaign on Gaza on May 10 after harassment of Palestinians in Jerusalem al-Quds and attempts to steal their lands in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the city.

On May 21, a ceasefire came into effect ending the 12-day Israeli bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza Strip.

More than 280 Palestinians were killed, including 67 children, while thousands more were injured. The bombardment was seen as an Israeli assault of Palestinian towers which left thousands homeless and seeking shelter in UNRWA schools.
