Explosion Reported near Mosque in Faryab Province of Afghanistan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An explosion reportedly took place near a mosque in Faryab province, Afghanistan, on Wednesday.

At least three people were injured in the explosion near the Imam Abu Hanifa mosque, according to local reports.

The incident took place after an explosive, placed on a parked motorcycle nearby, went off.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group has carried out many deadly attacks in Afghanistan in recent years, targeting mosques, schools and other places.

The Taliban swept across the country in August 2021, seizing power as US and NATO forces were in the last weeks of their final withdrawal from Afghanistan after 20 years of war.
