Chancellor of the University of Islamic Sects urged for establishment of a new major in Islamic countries’ universities on the Fiqh (jurisprudence) of coexistence.

Addressing the opening ceremony of an international conference on “Development of Fiqh Sciences” on Sunday, Hojat-o-Islam Ahmad Moballeghi added that such a major could be a basis and prelude for other jurisprudential fields, the website of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought reported.
Hojat-ol-Islam Moballeghi said if the Fiqh of coexistence remains isolated, Muslims’ life could fall trapped into the ideas of extremists groups and there could be disorder in relations among Muslims.
He further elaborated on the characteristics of coexistence, saying that coexistence is reciprocal issue and cannot be realized by one group only.
The 13th conference of Development of Jurisprudential Sciences titled “Impact of Islamic Jurisprudence on Human Communities” opened in the Omani capital of Muscat on Sunday.
Delegations from different countries are present at the conference.
The Iranian delegation is headed by Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thoughts Ayatollah Mohsen Araki.
The Jurisprudence of justice, jurisprudence of human rights in international charters, Islamic jurisprudence and comparative study of Islamic jurisprudence are among the topics to be discussed during the meeting.
The meeting is organized by Oman’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs annually.
