The conference is organized by Oman’s Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs annually.
A number of Muslim world thinkers and scholars including Ayatollah Sheikh Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, were present at the international event.
In an address to the closing ceremony, Salim bin Hilal Al-Khorusi, an advisor to Oman’s Awqaf ministry, said the conference promoted the message that values such as freedom, equality, mercy, justice, and benevolence originate from the teachings of Islam and the Holy Quran.
He said one of the main objectives of the meeting was o encourage Muslims to uphold unity and expand cooperation and fraternity.
He then read out the final statement of the conference, which, among other things, highlighted the need for emphasizing common grounds and developing exchange of views among different schools of thought.
The statement also urged for confronting divisive and extremist currents via fostering Quranic values.
The 13th conference of Development of Jurisprudential Sciences titled “Impact of Islamic Jurisprudence on Human Communities” had opened in the Omani capital of Muscat last Sunday.
