Late Imam Khomeini’s (RA) Initative for Promoting Islamic Unity Lauded

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Speakers in a forum held in the Senegalese capital praised the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s initiative to promote Islamic Unity.

 According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), they lauded Imam Khomeini’s (RA) move to declare the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday (the week between the 12th to 17th of Rabi'al-awwal) as the Islamic Unity Week.

The forum on "role of Sufi orders in proximity of Islamic schools of thought” was held in Dakar with the cooperation of the Iranian Cultural Center in the city.
The program was attended by a number of Senegalese religious, scientific and academic figures including representatives of different Sufi orders as well as Iranian ambassador to Senegal and Iranian cultural attaché in the country.
Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Dakar hosted the forum, which was addressed by Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Moradi, director of the academic branch.
He elaborated on the objectives of the program and stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among Muslims.
The official highlighted the influential role of Sufi orders in enhancing Islamic unity and noted that the Sufi thoughts which are deep rooted in the Senegalese society have resulted in a kind of peace and friendship among Muslims in this country.
