TEHRAN (IQNA) – Deputy head of Iran’s Supreme Quran Council said the council aims to train 10 million memorizers of the Quran in the country.

Ali Sarabi made the remark at the closing ceremony of the Rahle National Quran Plan held Sunday at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini (RA) south of Tehran.

He described spreading memorization of the Quran as the best cultural achievement for the country, stressing that Iran is becoming a Quranic country thanks to the Islamic Revolution.

Today, we are witnessing a wave of interest in learning the Quran by heart among the children, teenagers and youth in the country, he stated.

Sarabi further highlighted the grand status of Quran memorizers before God and referred to memorizing the Quran as a blessing from God, IRNA reported.

The first edition of the Rahle National Quran Plan, which is a Quranic education project, wrapped up Sunday with the participation of more than 1200 Quran learners who took its courses.

In response to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s call for training 10 million memorizers of the Quran, there have been many efforts in Iran in the past few years to promote Quran memorization.
