The draft law, titled ‘Sindh Compulsory Teaching of Holy Quran Bill 2021’, was recently submitted PTI MPAs Shahzad Qureshi, Rabia Azfar and Arsalan Taj. The bill was prepared after consultations with religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and other scholars.
The PTI leaders proposed in the bill that Nazra should be taught to the children from their first to fifth grades and Quran should be taught with translation in the sixth to twelfth classes, The News reported.
Qureshi said the Sindh government should pass the bill into the law as soon as possible so that it could be implemented immediately. He remarked that if the bill was passed, it would be of great benefit to our future generations.
