TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 29th edition of the Tehran International Quran Exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday evening with the presence of officials.

The opening ceremony was attended by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Culture Minister Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili, and Education Minister Yousef Nouri among others.

Held at Imam Khomeini Mosalla, the ceremony started with a recitation of some verses by Hadi Movahed Amin, winner of the international Quran competitions of Iran this year.

Culture Minister Esmaeili was the first speaker who provided details about the exhibition.

Pointing to the necessity of holding such events in person, he said, “Our community is in dire need of these Quranic gatherings and the closure of these events has negative effects on people.”

He noted that at first some 18,000 square meters were allocated for the exhibition but with the warm welcome of various organizations and institutes, the total area of the exhibition was expanded to 40,000 square meters.

Ghalibaf also addressed the ceremony, regretting that people could not use this exhibition in the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Describing the holy month of Ramadan as a great opportunity, he hoped that worshipers could truly understand the Quran and Qadr night.

Elsewhere, he said that the Islamic Revolution has resisted enemies thanks to Quranic beliefs and values.

The exhibition will run for two weeks, hosting visitors every day from 5 PM to midnight.

With the motto of “Quran, Book of Hope and Calm”, the exhibition will be held with 45 sections set up in an area of 40,000 square meters.

The Tehran International Quran Exhibition is annually organized by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the holy month of Ramadan.

The exhibition is aimed at promoting Quranic concepts and developing Quranic activities.

It showcases the latest Quranic achievements in the country as well as a variety of products dedicated to the promotion of the Holy Book.

In 2020 the expo was called off and in 2021 it was held virtually due to the coronavirus restrictions in the country.
