TEHRAN (IQNA) – A forum was held in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, to discuss the meaning of charity in the Holy Quran.

A number of scholars, thinkers and researchers attended the two-day forum, which started on Tuesday, Sharjah24 website reported.

The reward for charity and beneficence in the Holy Quran, charity as an act of worship, beauty of morality, and verses about Ihsan (charity) in the Holy Book were among the topics discussed at the program.

The Islamic Association of Sharjah organized the forum, which was part of a series of programs aimed at promoting the culture of Ihsan among different groups of people.

Ahmed al-Rifaei was among those who presented a paper at the forum. In his paper, Al-Refaei discussed different types of Sadaqa (voluntary charity) and its status in Islam.

The scholar said after faith and Islam, charity has the highest status in the religion.

Another paper presented at the scholarly event was titled “Verses of Ihsan in the Holy Quran” and written by Hadi Abdul Hussein, a professor at the Islamic Studies Faculty of the Mohamed bin Zayed University.
