TEHRAN (IQNA) – Thirty-four students in the Indian-administered Kashmir were honored for memorizing the Holy Quran during an event participated by renowned clerics from Kashmir Valley.

The Darul Uloom Faizul Kabeer located in Kralgund Qaziabad area of North Kashmir’s Handwara organized the honoring ceremony.

Those who were felicitated for ‘Hifz-e-Quran’ (Quran memorization) included 31 girl students and 3 boys.

The daylong program was attended by Mufti Muzaffar Hussain Qasmi, Mufti Ghulam Mohiuddin Raheemi, Mufti Waseem Ahmed, Mufti Altaf Hussain Mir, Mufti Rayees Ahmad, Dr Nissar Ahmed Nadvi, Mufti Mushtaq Ahmad, Mufti Zahoor Ahmad Rahimi, Mufti Zahoor Ahmad Bhat besides several other prominent Islamic scholars.

The attending scholars in their speeches unequivocally highlighted the importance and significance of Quranic education, especially for girls and women.

The event was also attended by family members of the students who completed the ‘Hafiz’ course. These students as a mark of symbolism and honor were donned turbans and shawls.

There are 111 girls and 20 boys (students) enrolled in Darul-Uloom Faizul Kabeer who are receiving Quranic education.
