More than 2,100 Individuals Make It to 2nd Stage of Otr Elkalam Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – According to a statement by organizers, 2,116 people have made it to the second stage of a Quran and Adhan competition in Saudi Arabia.

 

This was announced by Saudi General Entertainment Authority which added that more than 50,000 people from 165 countries had registered to take part in the event titled Scent of Speech (Otr Elkalam).

The youngest and oldest participants in the contest are 5 and 104 years old respectively.

The first stage was held virtually as contestants send a video of their performance for being judged by arbiters.

The competition combines good performance and the laws of melody, targeting the beauty of voice without the accompaniment of music.

Saudi authorities have allocated more than SR12 million worth of prizes for winners of the world's largest contest program in its field.

Contesters who pass the first three phases will appear before viewers of MBC program during the coming fasting month of Ramadan to announce the final winners.

The contest is designed to get the entire world acquainted to Islam’s tolerance and moderation as well as enrichment and diversification of the Islamic cultures and fine voices reciting the Holy Quran and calling for prayers in addition to supporting and empowering the skilled and innovators and honoring them, according to organizers.

Last Ramadan, which witnessed the kickoff of the contest, as many as 40,000 from 80 countries registered to compete in the event.
