TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 16th scholarly circle of Egypt’s Al-Azhar Senior Scholars Council was held at a mosque in Cairo, the country’s capital.

Miracle of Mi’raj Theme of Al-Azhar Scholars’ Forum

The miracle of Mi’raj (the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) ascension to heaven) was the theme of the gathering, according to Bawaba al-Shuruq website.

Mahmoud Tawfiq Sa’ad, Saeed Amir and Aiman al-Hajjar were among the scholars who addressed the event.

Sa’ad said that with regard to Mi’raj, there two groups of Muslims: Some, including the common people, revere the occasion and celebrate it, while the second group also study the event to learn more about it.

He said it is incumbent upon seminarians and religious sciences students to carefully study the religious texts about Mi’raj.

Aiman al-Hajjar referred to some doubts about the miracle of Mi’raj and said there is enough evidence in the Quran and Hadiths.

He said those who reject the possibility of Mi’raj and say it cannot be proven logically forget the fact that it was a miracle.

He also noted that many things that seemed to be impossible before, such as space travel or telecommunication, are now happening everyday thanks to the advancement in human knowledge and technologies.

If one takes into account the fact that God is Omniscient and Omnipotent, it would be easy for him to realize the possibility of a miracle like Mi’raj, he went on to say.

On the night of Mi’raj, the Prophet (PBUH) traveled from Mecca to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine and from there to heavens. According to reports in Islamic sources, on that journey, he talked with some angels as well as the people of paradise and hell. The Prophet (PBUH) also talked with some messengers of God and there was also a conversation between him and God.
