TEHRAN (IQNA) – Adhan (call to prayer) is a means to declare Tawheed (monotheism) and inviting people to gather together for Salah. It is also among the beautiful and effective slogans of Islam.

Adhan (Islamic call to prayer)

In Adhan, there is Takbir (greatness of God) as well as bearing witness to the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH) and Wilayat of Imam Ali (AS). It also invites people to hasten to Salah and hasten to salvation.

Adhan is declaration of the existence of Islam and introduction of Muslims and religious beliefs.

Adhan is breaking silence and crying out against imaginary deities. It is a slogan in support of Islam and the religion of God.

Muezzin (one who recites Adhan) is respected in the Muslim society and will be proud on the Day of Judgment.

Bilal al-Habashi was among the first people who embraced Islam. He was also the first muezzin in Islam and was proud of that. On the day when Mecca was conquered by Muslims, he went on the roof of the Kaaba and destroyed the idols of the Mushrikeen.

Adhan is recited once for declaring the arrival of the time of Salah and once at the beginning of Salah.

After reciting Adhan, Iqama is recited, which has the same concepts and is meant to prepare one spiritually and mentally and draw his or her attention to God and His oneness.

Although reciting Adhan and Iqama is Mustahab (recommended but not obligatory), they are among the main rituals in Islam and have been emphasized.

Through reciting Adhan, a Muslim worshipper makes the name of God reverberate in the world and undermine those who oppose God and Islam.
