Israeli Occupiers Desecrate Quran, Vandalize Mosque in West Bank
The act of hatred unfolded on Wednesday in the village of Orif, according to media outlets of the Israeli regime.
The video also showed other masked settlers watching the act of desecration.
The same masked men also set fire to a school and attempted to set fire to homes and the mosque as well, reports say. Residents told Israeli media that the settlers had entered the village from the direction of the nearby Yitzhar settlement.
The incident reportedly took place during the riots by Israeli settlers in the West Bank village of Orif on Wednesday. No arrests were made following this incident.
Hatem al-Bakri, the Palestinian Authority's Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, condemned the growing attacks by Israel and its settlers on mosques and their sanctity.
Al-Bakri said in a statement: "This is a brutal and unacceptable act that reflects the extreme right-wing ideology of the Israeli cabinet, which allows these Zionist gangs to commit violent and hateful crimes that are rejected by all religions."
The Palestinian minister urged an end to all Zionist attacks on mosques and Muslim holy sites in Palestine, urging the international organizations to do their duty as such tensions can spark a religious war with unknown consequences.
In a statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry also slammed the Quran desecration, urging for the arrest and punishment of the perpetrators.
Israeli settlers rampaged through several Palestinian towns in the West Bank on Tuesday night, torching cars, setting farmland on fire, and vandalizing homes, in scenes reminiscent of a pogrom earlier this year in the village of Huwwara.
On Wednesday, hundreds of settlers, many of them armed, descended on the town of Turmusaya, protected by Israeli soldiers. The settlers attacked Palestinian residents, destroyed their property, and a 27-year-old Palestinian man was shot dead.
