DUBAI (IQNA) – The 7th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak international Quran competition for women wrapped up in a ceremony in Dubai.

Winners of the contest were announced and awarded at the closing ceremony held at the Culture and Science Seminar Hall in Al Mamzar area of ​​Dubai on Friday.

It was attended by a number of officials, as well as a large number of community women, contestants and their companions, directors of Holy Quran meditation centers and representatives of awards and Quran institutions in the United Arab Emirates.

Following recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and a documentary featuring the competition since its inauguration seven years ago, the winners were announced and awarded,

Jordanian contestant Sundos Saeed Mohammed Siddawi won the first place, Amad Al-Rahman Badi Gulai from Bahrain took the second place, Yasmin Old Daly from Algeria, Masla Jamal Al-Din from Indonesia and Asma Abdel-Rahman Abdullah Abdul-Malik from Yemen stood next.

The sixth place went to Senegal’s Andy Buso Zatra, while Bangladeshi contestants Naseeba Huq Feza and Ayesha Hameed Muhammad from Cameroon reached the seventh and eighth ranks.

The ninth place went to Tanzanian Sumaya Ali Juma. Finland’s Samira Noor Mullum finished tenth, rematching Uganda’s Nabila Nansubuka.

The competition had been launched in the UAE city last Saturday with the participation of Quran memorizers from 60 countries.

They competed in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.

The contest’s panel of judges comprised Quran experts from the host country as well as Egypt, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Three of its members were female Quran experts.

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) annually organizes the international Quranic event for women from various countries.
