Quran Manuscripts On Display On Sidelines of Kuwait Int’l Quran Contest

KUWAIT CITY (IQNA) – A host of historic Quran manuscripts are on display in an exhibition on the sidelines of the 2023 edition of Kuwait’s international Quran competition.

A research institute affiliated with Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center is showcasing rare copies of the Holy Quran.

The booth also provides information about the Egyptian center’s efforts to preserve historic manuscripts.

Nazir Ayyad, head of the center, said Al-Azhar’s library contains 970 Quran manuscripts that belong to different years from the 4th to 13th centuries AH.

Kuwait’s 12th inauguration international Holy Quran competition began on Wednesday and will run for a week.

The contenders compete in five categories featuring memorization of the Holy Quran, recitation, and Tajweed at different levels.

The competition is being held under the patronage of Kuwait’s Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
