The program will be organized at Al-Sayyida Nafisa Mosque after noon prayers Monday, Egypt’s Awqaf Minister Mohammed Mukhtar Gomma said, according to el-Balad new website.

He added that the ministry also plans to organize 11 forums in Islamic centers next week to discuss a number of major religious and cultural issues.

These programs are held as part of the ministry’s role in promoting moderate views, raising awareness about cultural and social issues, and spreading ethical values in society, he stated.

They are also aimed at promoting religious awareness and combatting extremism, he added.

In recent years, the Awqaf ministry of Egypt has attached great emphasis in promoting ideas that it views as moderate.

Some critics say the emphasis on a so-called “moderate approach” is in line with the new policies of the government of Egypt aimed at introducing restrictions to the activities of religious institutions.
